William Nelson Wimp Fisher, age 80 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday afternoon, April 17, 2017 in the woods near his camp. Born on September 25, 1936 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late George Eskridge Fisher and Hilda Mae Purtbaugh Fisher. A son, William N. Fisher, II and a brother George W. Fisher preceded him in death. A member of the Dorcas Baptist Church, he also was a member of the NRA, the Cross Knob Sportsman Club, the Branch Mountain hunting club, Bears Heil hunting club and the Grace property. As one could see by his membership, Wimp loved to hunt birds and bear. He enjoyed over the years of working with dogs that he used hunting and traveled great distances sometimes to buy a dog. In his younger days, he could be seen riding for the Knights of the South Branch Valley as his name appears in the Jousting Hall of Fame in Mt. Solon, VA. Not only did Wimp enjoy hunting but he enjoyed gardening, sharing his gardening tips with others and he loved to mow the yard, especially with his new mower. As a member of his church, he often would do repairs as his work ethic from his chosen profession as a carpenter of many years was looked upon highly. His work ethic was like no other, finding little time in a day to just relax but often travelling to town with his wife of 61 years, Lorraine E. (Hinkle) Fisher to Walmart just to talk to people he saw in the store. They would attend the Peru Ham and Oyster dinners and would travel early just to be the first in line. His family always benefitted from his woodworking skills as he built a piece of furniture for all of them. To pass the time, Wimp would count cars in the afternoon on US 220 as he sat under the carport at his home. Surviving in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Deb & Mike Helmick of Moorefield, WV; a son, Rick & Karen Fisher of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Fred Fisher of Moorefield, WV; three sisters, Nellie F. George of Harpers Ferry, WV, Anna Douglas Borror of Waynesboro, PA and Hilda Sherman of Palmyra, VA; five grandchildren, Heidi Wheeler, Lasidi Helmick, William N.
