Zetta Childers Shanholtz

Zetta Bell Childers Shanholtz, age 90 of Kuykendall Lane, Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday evening, February 13, 2019 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on June 29, 1928 in Copen, WV, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Earle Childers and Mary Creta Heater Childers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Welton Shanholtz in June 2009. Two brothers, Lynn and Francis and a sister, Betty Lindsey also preceded her in death.

Zetta was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren where she volunteered in the library and the kitchen and she maintained the church’s card ministry for over 30 years. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Hardy County Committee on Aging, a member of the Pink Ribbon Ladies and the Red Hat Society. Zetta enjoyed quilting, gardening and crossword puzzles and volunteering for the Red Cross. At the youthful age of 70 she learned to swim and would often swim up to 12 laps twice a week.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne W. Shanholtz, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Thomas Shanholtz of Chester, MD; two daughters, Shelia Lightner and Jayne Shanholtz of Winchester, VA; a brother, William Childers of Copen, WV; six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, Clay & Washington Streets with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM Sunday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.
