Wanda Lee Shockey

Wanda Lee Crites Shockey, age 75 of Second Lane, Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, surrounded by her husband and her children. Born on May 7, 1942 at home near Durgon, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Waitman Crites and Thelma Lee Southerly Crites. She was a lifelong resident of Moorefield and Hardy County. Wanda attended Moorefield High School and obtained her G.E.D. She was a lifelong member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren where she also was a teacher of Sunday School and Bible School. She was a cook for 25 years at the Moorefield High School cafeteria. She lived for her family, her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 59 years. Raymond C. Shockey; three children; sons, James Ray and wife Vera Shockey of Old Fields, WV and John Edward Shockey of Moorefield, WV; a daughter, Sandy Lee and husband Delmas Ours of Purgitsville, WV. Also surviving is a sister, Bonnie and Husband Malin Koontz of Petersburg, WV; a brother, Jim Crites of Petersburg, WV; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell and Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery, Old Fields, WV. The family will receive friends from 9:00 11:00 Am until time of services on Thursday. Wanda and her husband Raymond were avid travelers visiting several countries around the world and lived for a number of years in Germany.
