Virginia Lee Baldwin

Virginia Lee “Ginny” Wratchford Baldwin, age 91 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Saturday evening, September 11, 2021, at her residence, with her family by her side. Born December 31, 1929, in Hardy County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ervin Jeremiah Wratchford and Bessie Lee Gochenour Wratchford. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Ray H. Baldwin on April 16, 2017, an infant son, a granddaughter and four brothers.

She and her husband operated Baldwin’s Grocery for 25 years.  She also worked at the Green Valley Hatchery, Malcolm’s Grocery, Hardman’s Hardware and Food Lion before retiring.  She was a member of the Moorfield Church of the Brethren and a Member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a loving wife and mother who loved gardening, her flowers and her four cats.

Surviving are six children, Charlotte & Les Walker of Cape Charles, VA, Lyle & Kay Baldwin of Moorefield, WV, Esther & John Thomas of Petersburg, WV, Nancy Thorne of Moorefield, WV, Kevin & Barbara Baldwin of Broadway, VA, and William Baldwin of Moorefield, WV; six sisters, Lena Hinkle and Bonnie Hines, of Moorefield, Lila Ann Sine of Winchester, VA, Alice French of Baltimore, MD, Phyliss Shobe of Richmond, VA, and Dorothy Ritchie of Harrisonburg, VA; one brother, Walter Wratchford of Walkersville, MD; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be conducted 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, WV, with Rev. Harold Cullers officiating.
