Violet C. Piraino

Violet (Ratliff) Shockey Piraino, 76, of Burlington, WV, formerly of Moorefield, WV, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at her residence. Born on February 13, 1930 at Old Fields, WV, she was a daughter of the late John Benjamin and Lucy Mae (Fitzwater) Ratliff. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Mario Piraino on April 4, 1996; a stepson, Mario Piraino, Jr.; a granddaughter, Patricia Ann Loy; a step-grandchild, Jackie Piraino; four sisters, Rosie Lewis, Daisy Ratliff, Grace Riggleman and Edith Shubert and two brothers, Jesse and Melvin Ratliff. Mrs. Piraino was a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church at Purgitsville, WV, the Ridgeway Ladies Club, Burlington and the Purgitsville Homemakers. She also was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department and the Burlington T.O.P.S. Surviving are two sons, Wayne W. Shockey, Jr. and wife Mary Frances of Moorefield and Michael Todd Piraino of Burlington; two daughters, Judy Ann Loy Wilson and husband Charles of Romney, WV and Joan Elizabeth Taylor and husband Raymond of Burlington; four step-sons, Benjamin Piraino of Kissimmee, FL, Johnny Piraino of Medford, NY, Joseph Piraino of Bayshore, NY and Salvatore Piraino of Point Verda Beach, FL; one brother, John David Ratliff of Augusta, WV; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren; 20 nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield, on Tuesday, February 6 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.. Funeral services were conducted at the Fraley Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Brad Taylor and Rev. Gary Gourley, Sr. officiating. Interment was in the Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, WV. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel and the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield.
