Thomas Brooks Smith

Thomas Brooks Tom Smith, age 88 of Valley View Road, Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday evening, July 1, 2016 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born July 4, 1927 In Hardy Co., WV, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Smith and Tudie McCoy (Riggleman) Smith. A retired equipment operator for William A. Hazel for 38 years he was also a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and time outdoors. His lawn was his golf course green, prohibiting his children from walking on it or even allowing them to mow it when he was unable. A daughter, Sherri Lynn, two brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Carol L. (Kesner) Smith; four daughters, Vickie & Mike Perez of Stafford, VA, Bobbie & John Moore of Fairfax, VA, Tammy Carter of Carlsbad, CA and Lena & Jeff Stocks of Louisa, VA; a sister, Mary Forbeck of Cumberland, MD; seven grandchildren, Joshua Perez, Haley Moore, Nikki Medina, Basil Hubble, Cierra Hubble, Crystal Kasper & Amber Stacks and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army at Newhouse Cemetery, Rig Road, Moorefield. The family will receive friends from 4 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
