Thomas Bernard McNeill,

Thomas Bernard McNeill Sr., age 89, of Harrisonburg , VA, formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Sunnyside Retirement Community in Harrisonburg. He was born March 13, 1926 in Old Fields WV, a son of the late Augustus Cleland McNeill and Nannie Belle (Gilkeson) McNeill. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Pilgrim McNeill in November 2014 along with three brothers; John, Robert, and Renick. Mr. McNeill graduated from Moorefield High School and then served in the US Army. He returned to Moorefield until 2002, at which time he and Betty moved to Harrisonburg, VA. He owned and operated the McNeill Insurance Agency in Moorefield; served as Chairman of the Board of the Capon Valley Bank in Wardensville, WV, retiring from that position in 2010. Through the years, Mr. McNeill was a member of numerous local civic organizations throughout the Moorefield area. He was a former member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church where he taught Mens Sunday School and served the church as a Trustee, Deacon and Elder. Most recently, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg. He is survived by one son, Thomas B. McNeill Jr. and his wife Nancy, and grandson Adam C. McNeill of Charlotte, NC. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am Friday, August 28, 2015 at Meredith Chapel at the Sunnyside Retirement Community, Harrisonburg,VA, with the Rev. Paul OGorek officiating. Graveside Services will follow at 1:00 pm Friday at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV.
