Sandra Elizabeth DeVault

Sandra Elizabeth DeVault, age 71 of Railroad Street, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, September 28, 2021 at her residence. Born on August 31, 1950 in Petersburg, WV, she was a daughter of the late Esther Mae Smith Greenwalt. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph “Butch” Greenwalt, her father Charles Taylor, parents, Howard & Margaret Mann and grandparents, Julian & Elizabeth Smith.

In 1970, Sandy married and became a “Navy wife”. During this time, she lived in beautiful countries like Italy and Spain. Her many travels took her to Greece, England, Sigonella & Portugal to name a few. Sandy settled in her hometown of Moorefield, where she worked as a pharmacist tech, retiring in 2012.

Her greatest love were her children and grandsons and the grandsons would call her “Crazy Grandma”. She embraced her grandson’s love for sports by becoming a huge Red Sox fan. In 2019, she traveled to Alaska with her daughters, being able to check off her top bucket list item.

Surviving are two daughters, Dawn DeVault McNamara of Providence, RI and Melanie Renee DeVault of Moorefield, WV; two grandsons, Conor McNamara and Brady McNamara of Providence, RI; brothers, Julian “Frog” Greenwalt, Timmy Greenwalt, Gary “Bink” Greenwalt, Rusty Greenwalt, Scott Greenwalt, Frank Taylor, Andrew Taylor & Mike Taylor; sisters, Gail “Susie” Thompkins, Elsie “Buttons” Haggerty and Debbie Riggleman of Moorefield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiant. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
