Ruth Arlene Miller Neff, age 91 of South Fork Road, Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday morning, December 19, 2019 at her residence with family at her side. Born on June 7, 1928 in Tiffin, OH, she was a daughter of the late Claude Virgil Miller and Agnes Foltz Miller. Her husband whom she married on September 6, 1950, Weldon Woodrow Neff preceded her in death in June 1992. An infant son, Gregory Allen Neff and a grandson, Jason Regester also preceded her in death.
Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Triplett High School in Mt. Jackson, VA and 1946 graduate of Shenandoah Business College in Woodstock, VA. She was a Charter Member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, was a Sunday School Teacher and served as a Deacon, was a participant in the Women’s Fellowship and Bible School instructor. She was also active in 4-H serving as a leader and was a 4-H All Star. Long disappeared, she was a member of the Tannery Home Demonstration Club replaced by the current CEOS.
Ruth was content being a farmer’s wife, raising a family, baking, cooking, sewing and attending church. Later in her years she enjoyed reading the daily paper and puzzle books, anything to keep her mind stimulated.
Surviving is a daughter, Faye D. (Roy Welton) Neff of Moorefield, WV; two sons, Dennis O. Neff of Moorefield, WV and Samuel W. (Judy) Neff of Strasburg, VA; a brother, Harold “Johnny” (Shirley) Miller of Front Royal, VA; two granddaughters, Amy Register Enterline and Teisha Welton Combs; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the Moorefield Church of Brethren, Clay & Washington Streets with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Saturday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.
