Ruth Alt Engle

Ruth Alt Engle, age 98 of J.C. Markwood Road, Purgitsville, WV, passed away Sunday June 10, 2018 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on November 23, 1919 in Kline, WV, she was a daughter of the late Albert Milton Whetzel and Martha Jane Alt Whetzel. Her husband Kenneth Samuel Engle preceded her in death in July 2007. A daughter, Mary Rosalee Rohrbaugh, six brothers and five sisters also preceded her in death. Ruth was happy as homemaker but had a lengthy career as a seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, laying out her garden in her mind in early February. Her bounty led to her annual canning so she could cook and bake for the family. In her little spare time, she would crochet, make rag rugs and stitch the occasional quilt. She enjoyed road trips with her late husband which almost always included fishing. Surviving are two sons, Mervin George Rohrbaugh and wife Carol of Purgitsville, WV and Wendell Wayne Rohrbaugh and wife Barbara of Castalia, OH; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Dunn of Fisher, WV; a sister, Clara Nell Ours of Cabins, WV; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 13, 2018 the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
