Roy Conway Ketterman, 76, of Fisher, WV, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024 at Grant Memorial hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on March 16, 1947, in Dumpling Run, Hardy County, WV, Roy was the son of the late John Adam Ketterman and Bessie Lillian Parker Ketterman. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. Roy attended Moorefield Assembly of God church.
Roy was a man of simple pleasures who found his joy in the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passions, and he spent countless hours immersed in nature, finding solace and contentment in its beauty. He was also known for his impressive collection of hats, always sporting a different one that matched his mood. But above all, Roy cherished the precious moments spent with his grandsons, who held a special place in his heart.
Throughout his life, Roy was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife of 56 years, Charlotte Margaret Armentrout Ketterman. Their love and commitment were unwavering, and they were true partners in every sense of the word. Roy's children, Rodney Ketterman of Shepherstown, WV, and Holly Conrad (David Conrad) of Moorefield, WV and grandsons, Brandon Barger, II & Isaac Barger (Kyle Blake), were the light of his life, and he treasured each moment with them.
In addition to his immediate family, Roy is survived by his sisters, Ruth Ours, Janet Bible, and Linda Ours, as well as his brother, Olin “Buck” Ketterman. He also leaves behind his step-grandchildren, Christopher Conrad and Samantha Conrad, and a special son-in-law, Brandon Barger.
Funeral services for Roy will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Wade Armentrout. Following the ceremony, Roy will be laid to rest in the Olivet Cemetery, where he will find eternal peace.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel. During this time, friends and family will have the opportunity to share memories, offer condolences, and pay their respects to a man who lived a life filled with love, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the simplicity of the world.
Roy will forever be remembered for his kind heart, his love for his family, and his unwavering zest for life.
