Roger Lee Dean, Sr.

Roger Lee Dean, Sr., age 75 of Mountain View Road, Purgitsville, WV, passed away Monday evening, May 18, 2020 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born on May 19, 1944 in  Winchester, VA, he was a son of the late Alister Rumsey See and Margaret Atilee Dean Funk See. He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Brayden Schell and James Clark and a half-sister, Norma Jean Funk.

Roger was a member of the Rig Assembly of God Church where he served on the Security Team, and had retired from Pilgrim’s Pride after @ 40 years as a maintenance technician. He enjoyed farming, his horses, and deer hunting with family and friends.

Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Bessie Ellen Evans Dean; two sons, Roger L. Dean, Jr. of Springfield, VA and Craig Dean of Maysville, WV; his children by marriage; Charles (Eva Jean) Clark of Cabins, WV, Fred Clark of Middleburg, FL, Barbara Vance of Mt. Storm, WV, Debra Layton of Old Fields, WV and Rebecca (Darrell) Harman of Petersburg, WV; two half-brothers, Jack Funk and Larry Funk of Purgitsville, WV; a half-sister, Donna Pittington of Moorefield, WV; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Donald Dean of Winchester, VA and his furry-four-legged companion, Buddy.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, Private Family services will be conducted at the Lahmansville Cemetery with Pastor Brad Taylor officiating.
