Robert Bruce Fertig, Sr. age 90 of Moorefield, WV passed away Thursday evening, March 10, 2016 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born March 10, 1926 in Headsville, WV, he was the son of the late Laportie Darius Fertig and Lucy Mae Logsdon Fertig. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Bob was the founder of Fertig Cabinet Company in 1967, where he remained active until the day he passed away. Prior to forming his own company, he was a Police Officer for the Town of Moorefield; worked for the B & O Railroad; was an Assistant Manager of Raygold Manufacturing and later a Council Member for the Town of Moorefield. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War; a member of the Denney-Moyers-Prat Post #9606 V.F.W.; a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion; was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church; and a 50 year member of the Moorefield Lodge #29 A.F. & A.M. He was a regular at Hotts Cabin weekly Wednesday Prayer Session and was an avid coin collector with a very extensive collection. On September 14, 1945 he married his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth M. (Whittington) Fertig whom survives along with two sons; Robert B. (wife Dora) Fertig, Jr. and Philip D. (wife Vicki) Fertig both of Moorefield, WV; a daughter, Sue F. Williams of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Valda Luzader of Barberton, OH; seven grandchildren, Dana S. (Charlene) Fertig, Jason S. Fertig, Sarah E. (Tim) Sions, Emily Fertig, Kelsey R. Fertig, Jacqueline Mace & Carly B. Fertig (Luke); eight great-grandchildren, Brittani Fertig, Holden Sions, Alexis Fertig, Caden Fertig, Alaena Fertig, Adeline Fertig, Piper Kesner & Jayce Sions; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Moorefield Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites accorded by the Moorefield Lodge # 29 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends from 2 4 & 6 8 PM Monday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St. Memorials may be directed to the Harry T.
