Richard Allen Keplinger, age 77 of Teaberry Road, Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday morning, August 3, 2017 at the residence of his daughter. Born on September 27, 1939 in Pendleton Co., WV he was a son of the late Joseph Bryan Keplinger, Sr. and Icie Jane Hartman Keplinger. His wife, Donna S. Keplinger preceded him in death in March 2004. A daughter, a granddaughter, a sister and three brothers also preceded him in death. He was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren. An outdoors person who enjoyed fishing and hunting, Richard was well known for his musical abilities, especially playing with his band, Country Boys Band. He loved organizing a jamboree or ice cream social, any venue he could play bluegrass and entertain. He was the 1st Chief of Police of Petersburg; a Deputy for the Hardy County Sherriffs Office, an electrician for a while and later was a private investigator. Surviving are two daughters, Rose D. & Chuck Helmick of Moorefield, WV and Audrey J. Ratliff & Jimmy Miller of Purgitsville, WV; three brothers, William E. Bill Keplinger, Sr. of Moorefield, WV, Sterling Buzz Keplinger of Warsaw, MO and Johnny Keplinger of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Alma Malcolm of Springfield, WV; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, Clay & Washington Streets with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery near Moorefield. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 7 PM at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.
