Richard Hesse

Richard William Hesse, age 88 of Fisher, WV, passed away Friday morning, August 16, 20024 at Sterling Care, Frostburg Village in Midland, MD. Born on April 11, 1936 in Jordan Run, Grant County, WV, he was a son of the late Emmett David Hesse and Edna Mae Berg Hesse. His wife, Velma Elizabeth Snyder Hesse preceded him in death on August 29, 2005. Sisters, Artie Cunningham and Lena A. Wilkins also preceded him in death.

Those who knew him best could attest to his agricultural skills, honed over decades as a farmer in Hardy County. Richard's pursuits were not confined to the fields; he also delved into logging, construction, and operating heavy equipment with equal zeal. Richard, a proud veteran of the U. S. Army, always found solace in the fields and forests, embodying the true spirit of an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing. 

Surviving are two sons, Richard W. Hesse, II of Alexandria, VA and Jeffrey D. Hesse of Fisher, WV; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Buhrow of Connersville, IN; and Constance M. Hesse of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Lee Allen Hesse of Baker, WV; two sisters, Darlene V. Turner of Petersburg, WV and Bonnie Kisamore of Cabins, WV; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

As we gather to honor his memory, let us reflect on the legacy Richard leaves behind - one of hard work, resilience, and a profound connection to the land he tended so diligently. In the tranquil setting of Fultz Cemetery at Kessel, WV on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM, we will come together to celebrate a life well-lived. Led by Pastor Daryl Dunsmore, the graveside funeral service will pay homage to Richard's life and service. It will conclude with Military honors accorded by the U.S. Army and the Moorefield Veteran's Honor Guard.
