Richard “Rick” Allen Dean, Sr., 74 of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Born October 16, 1950, in Flats, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Roy Dean and Luella May (See) Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Ethan, and his brother, Roger Dean.
He graduated from Moorefield High School in 1968. He served with the U.S. Army from 1970 – 1972. Afterward, he worked for Grant County Press in Petersburg, WV; and then relocated to Hagerstown, MD in 1985 where he worked and retired from Allegheny Power. He was a member of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren in Moorefield, WV.
Rick is survived by his wife, Debra D. (Kesner) Dean; three sons, Richard “Richie” Dean, Jr., Langley Dean (wife, Michele), and Orland Dean (wife, Hannah); eight grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Skylar, Madison, Kamryn, Kaitlyn, Zachary, and Harper; sister, Betty Jean Snyder; and brother, Ralph Dean.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 4, 2024, from 6 - 9 PM at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, Moorefield, WV with Pastor D. J. Taylor officiant. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the U.S. Army and the Moorefield Veteran’s Honor Guard in Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 5 - 8 PM at the Fraley Funeral Home.
