Richard Allan Crawford, Sr., known affectionately as “Crawdaddy”, passed away on June 12, 2024, in Moorefield, WV, at the age of 66. He was born on December 6, 1957, in Cumberland, MD, a son of the late Franklin Elwood Crawford, Sr. and Ellen Margaret (Hedrick) Crawford Rosier.
A man of valor and service, Richard dedicated 31 years to the U. S. Army Reserves, proudly standing alongside his fellow soldiers in defense of his country. Additionally, he served the community for 37 years at George’s Inc, showcasing his unwavering work ethic and commitment. He was member of the Denney-Moyers-Pratt, Post #9606 V.F.W., a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion and a member of the Hardy County Voiture #1623, 40 & 8.
In his leisure time, Richard found joy in hunting, collecting eagles, attending his grandkids' softball games, and passionately raising funds for various charities. His kind and free spirit shone through in all his endeavors.
Richard, a devoted husband of 42 years to Donna V. (Self) Crawford, was a loving father to Richard Crawford, Jr. and a cherished father-in-law to Sandra Crawford. He is also survived by his grandchildren Nataliya, Rozalyn, and Dominic.
Funeral Services will be conducted 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor D. J. Taylor officiant. The family will be receiving friends to celebrate Richard's life on Wednesday, from 5:00 PM until the time of services. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, WV.
Richard's legacy of kindness, determination, and selflessness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
