Raymond Allen Helmick

Rev. Raymond Allen Helmick, known to most as Toby, age 80 of Southerly Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday evening, December 28, 2011 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born September 23, 1931 in Moorefield, he was the son of the late Clarence D. Helmick and Virgie (Whetzel) Helmick Fitzwater. A brother and a half sister preceded him in death. He was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren. Over the years, Toby had been a pastor at Brake, Dorcas, Evergreen, Romney, Harpers Chapel and Brick Church at Maysville. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Phyllis (Lahman) Helmick; two daughters, Carolyn Pinkie Eskridge of Hinton, WV and Julie Helmick of Moorefield, WV; two brothers, David Helmick and Alston Helmick of Moorefield, WV; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster & Pastor Harold Garber officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 8 PM Friday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.
