Raymond Crites Hefner, age 79 of Maple Avenue, Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday evening, August 8, 2016 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV, WV. He was born October 25, 1936 in Moorefield, WV, a son of the late William Gordon Hefner and Hattie Mae (Crites) Hefner. His wife, Geneva Gale George Hefner preceded him in death in August 2014. A daughter, Bethy Jo Hefner; two brothers, Johnnie Hefner & Gordon Hefner and sisters, Anna Hefner Raines & Shirley Hefner, also preceded him in death. A jack of all trades, he had retired from numerous jobs and activities including the Senior Centers Meals on Wheels delivery. A bus driver for many years, a tinkerer in his workshop, he enjoyed his garden and his modest coin collection. He was a US Army Veteran, a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent and was a Trustee of the Old Pine Church Cemetery. He was a past member of the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company 46. Surviving are three daughters, Libby & George Makely of New Market, VA, Chris Hefner & Abby Hefner of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Tommie L. Hefner of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Mary Alice & Landon Shobe of Moorefield, WV; six grandchildren, Amy & Mark Smith, Zackary Wolfe, Jordan Wolfe, Kullen & Erica Biller, Kylie Biller & Oliver Jones and two great-grandchildren, Isaiah Smith & Rachel Smith Funeral Services will be conducted 12:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Private Interment will be at the Old Pine Church Cemetery, Purgitsville, WV. Friends may call after 8:00 AM and the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at 12:00 PM on Thursday.
