Ray Richard Wilson, age 89 of Moorefield, WV passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior, Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024 at his residence with his family at his side. Born on January 12, 1935, near Moorefield, WV, he was a son of the late James Halbert Wilson and Dora Catherine Wratchford Wilson. His wife, Elma Barr Wilson, preceded him in death in September 1996. Two brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. A man of great integrity and profound faith, Ray was known for his unwavering devotion to his family, his love for the outdoors, and his generous spirit.
A man of many talents, Ray's passion for hunting, fishing, and gardening were only matched by his dedication to his faith and his community. His knack to seek a bargain and then turn around and sell it for a profit was an inherent gift. Prior to lazier days selling cars, he was a truck driver for 35+ years and was one of those million milers you hear about.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Randy (Delores) Wilson, Detarae (Rick) Biser, Kim (Bryon) Stump and Ronda Kesner of Moorefield, WV and Donnie (Teresa) Barr of Petersburg, WV; two brothers, H. Junior Wilson and Vance Wilson; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; his 4-legged furry companion “Sam” and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted, 11:00 AM Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, Rt. 55 East of Moorefield, WV, with Pastor D. J. Taylor officiant. Following the service, Ray will be laid to rest in the Walnut Grove Gardens, surrounded by the beauty of the land he so cherished. Prior to this, a visitation will take place on Friday, from 6 – 8 PM at the Walnut Grove Church, allowing friends and loved ones to pay their respects and share in the celebration of Ray's remarkable life.
The family requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice in honor of Ray's memory. Expressions of condolences, shared memories and cherished photographs may be left on Ray’s Tribute Wall at www.fraleyfuneralhome.com honoring his remarkable journey and the impact he made in the lives of those he touched.
