Ray Axon Poling, age 91 of Washington St., Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday morning, July 30, 2006, at his residence. Born October 5, 1914 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late Mitchell Felix & Mary Etta (Simmons) Poling. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII of Company I 149th Infantry. He was a member of the Denney-Moyers-Pratt Post #9606 V.F.W., a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion, and a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Neva E. (Leatherman) Poling; a son, Gregory A. Poling of Alexandria, VA; a daughter, Melinda R. Sherman of Moorefield, WV; two brothers, Felix Poling & Don Poling of Moorefield, WV; two grandchildren, Dana S. Fertig & Jason S. Fertig; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis M. Fertig & Brittani D. Fertig. Funeral Services will be conducted 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastors Ed Craft, Ted Osgood & Harold Cullers officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army and the Moorefield Veteran?s Honor Guard at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 ? 9 PM Tuesday at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. Mr. Poling will be taken to the church 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday.
