Perry Newton, age 65 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday morning, August 3, 2011 at his residence. Born June 13, 1946 in Alpena, Michigan, he was the son of William B. & Mary Anne (Perry) Newton. Perry was raised in Oakton, Virginia and graduated from Madison High School having lettered in basketball and football as a quarterback. He loved the water and was a life guard at Ocean City, MD for several summers. He traveled to the University of Hawaii where he studied, surfed and made surfboards. After 8 years, he returned to the mainland where he used his good taste working in the clothing industry. He followed his dream and started to farm at Bean Settlement where he was an active member of the community. Perry and Margy married in 1994 and moved to Iowa where he developed a prize-winning herd of Black Angus cattle. Emily, the light of his life, was born in Iowa in 1996. In 1998, the family moved back to Moorefield to live, work, and raise Emily. He will be lovingly remembered for his good sense of humor, good stories and zest for life. Surviving is his wife, Margy (Zirk) Newton; a daughter, Emily Newton; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Newton & Randy Ainslie; and numerous friends from many areas of the country. A Memorial Service will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 ? 7 PM. Private Inurnment will be held at St. Lukes Cemetery at a later date.
