Pauline Cathern Funkhouser

Pauline Cathern Wilson Funkhouser, age 94 of Winchester Avenue, Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday morning, September 28, 2020 at the E.A. Hawse Rehabilitation and Care Center in Baker, WV. Born on April 4, 1926 in Hardy County, WV, she was a daughter of the late James Halbert Wilson and Dora Catherine Wratchford Wilson.  Her husband, William Ray Funkhouser preceded her in death in April 2001. Siblings Herman Wilson and Maxine Fitzwater also preceded her in death.

Pauline was a graduate of Moorefield High School, Class of 1945; a Charter Member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, where she was active in many roles over the years. She enjoyed being outside, tending to her gardening tasks and canning the bountiful harvest. Not shy about hard work, she was employed by numerous stores and restaurants over the years. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, and word find puzzle books. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren.

Surviving is a daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Bishop of Winchester, VA; two grandchildren, Jenna (Bryan) Gerdau and Ben (Sophie) Bishop; three great-grandchildren, Landon Gerdau, Aubrey Bishop & Taylor Gerdau; four brothers, Blaine Wilson of Winchester, VA, Ray Wilson, H. Junior Wilson & Vance Wilson of Moorefield, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren with Pastor Charles Estep officiant. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM (noon) until time of services at the church.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, wearing of masks and social distancing will be required at the church at all times.
