Nova F. Funk, age 83 of Mt. Olive Road, Rio, WV passed away Monday evening, September 26, 2016 with her family by her side at the Grant Memorial Hospital Extended Care in Petersburg, WV. Born April 6, 1933 in Fabius, WV, she was the daughter of the late Winfield Stevenson Funkhouser and Nora Virginia (Park) Funkhouser. Her husband of 62 years, Arlie W. Funk preceded her in death in March 2014. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death. A homemaker for most of her life, Nova loved quilting and crocheting while she was a babysitter for her grandchildren. Fond of prose, she wrote numerous poems that garner the halls of her children. She was also a wonderful baker of cookies and bread. She anticipated spring planting of her vegetable garden for canning in the fall. Mostly she was a loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are two daughters, Dixie Lee & Leon Miller of Linville, VA and Donna V. & James Baker of Fulks Run, VA; a son, Dennis A. & Emily Funk of Kirby, WV; three sisters, Eula Glee Kasper of Frederick, MD, Mazie Plummer of McLean, VA and Nina McDonald of Winchester, VA; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and sister-in-laws, Armetha Tenney of Chatsworth, GA and Ethel Funk of Moorefield, WV. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street. The family will receive friends from 5 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Asbury Cemetery, North River Road, Baker, WV.
