Neva Elisabeth Leatherman Poling, age 87 of Washington Street, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, June 3, 2014 at the Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, WV. Born August 2, 1926 in Moorefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late Ocie Arnold Leatherman and Martha Elisabeth (Affleck) Leatherman. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a retired store clerk for Mathias Grocery. She was a life-long member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, and a member of the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Ray A. Poling preceded her in death in July 2006. Two brothers (Harlan and Carl Leatherman) and three sisters (Ava (Leatherman) Aylor, Virginia (Leatherman) Garrett and Mary (Leatherman) Walters also preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Melinda R. Sherman (husband Jimmy Jr.) of Moorefield, WV; one son, Greg Poling of Alexandria, VA; one sister, Elda Painter, Moorefield, WV; one brother, Paul Leatherman, Moorefield, WV; two grandchildren Dana S. Fertig (wife Charlene) Baker, WV, and Jason S. Fertig, Moorefield, WV; and four great-children, Brittani, Alexis, Caden and Alaena Fertig. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM (NOON), Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Jay Parkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at NOON.
