Merle William Lambert, age 74 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009, at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, WV where he had been a resident. Born January 10, 1935 at Rig, WV, he was the son of the late Melvin V. & Janet (Henry) Lambert. He was a US Army veteran having served in Alaska, a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed watching his cows and horses as well as the company of his dog ?Sue?, whom he loved. Deer season was his favorite season, not for the thrill of the hunt, but the fellowship he shared with his brother and hunting friends. A brother, Melvin and a sister, Mary preceded him in death. Surviving is a special niece he considered his daughter Dawn ?Shang? White of Moorefield, WV; four sisters, Ruth (Clarence) Constable of Keyser, WV, Nellie Armentrout of Toledo, OH, Judy (Richard) Bolton of Petersburg, WV and Brenda (Lowell) Kuhl of Keyser, WV; several nieces and nephews and a long time special friend. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Brad Taylor officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army and the Moorefield Veteran?s Honor Guard at the Newhouse Cemetery, Rig, WV. The family will receive friends from 2 ? 4 & 6 - 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
