Matthew Edward Crites

Matthew Edward “Mackie” Crites, age 60 of Water Plant Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 15, 2020 at his residence. Born on December 30, 1959 in Hardy County, WV, he was a son of the late Loring John “Harvey” Crites, Sr. and Bonnie Lee Shreve Crites. A brother, Johnny Crites and a sister Beverly “Sue’ Hines also preceded him in death.

Mack was a member of the Moorefield High School Class of 1979; a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church and attended Moorefield Assembly of God. He was an avid sports fan and participant with softball as his favorite. He was a member of the Riggleman’s Grocery State Champion Softball Team. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and horses and was a member of the Knights of the South Branch Valley (Jousting) known as “The Knight of Tannery”. Mack was widely known in the Tri-State area for his athletic ability and his humorous personality.

Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Brenda Lee Kline Crites; two sons, Lucas “Luke” Crites of Romney, WV and Bo Crites of Moorefield, WV; two grandchildren, Hailee and Parker Crites; brothers, Steven (Shirley) Crites of Moorefield. Loring “Bubby” (Bonnie) Crites of Petersburg, WV, Scotty Crites of Moorefield and Fred G. Crites of Moorefield; a sister, Rose (Stanley) Armentrout of Moorefield; sisters-in-law, Tammy (Tim) Ours and Linda Crites; brothers-in-law, Roger (Patty) Barnes and Mark Hines; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday. November 19, 2020 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Wade Armentrout officiant. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, wearing of masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home at all times.
