Mary Alice Shobe

Mary Alice Shobe, age 81 of Laurel Street, Moorefield, WV passed away Tuesday morning, March 16, 2021 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on September 14, 1939 in Moorefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late William Gordon Hefner and Hattie Mae Crites Hefner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Johnnie, Gordon & Tommie and sisters, Anna Raines & Shirley Hefner. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Mary was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren and a member of the Pink Ribbon Ladies as a 16-year Breast Cancer survivor. She worked many years at Harper’s Motel, Harper’s 5 & 10, the Moorefield Drive-In, Poling’s Store and retired from Hester Industries. After retiring, she and her husband mowed yards and were the custodians at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren.

Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Angus Landon Shobe; two daughters, Beverly (Frank) Vetter and Elizabeth “Sissy” Shobe of Moorefield, WV; a granddaughter, Sara (Josh) Crites; a great-granddaughter, Anna Crites and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiants. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, wearing of masks, temperature checks and social distancing will be observed at the funeral home at all times.
