Mary Catherine Golliday, age 75 of Morningside Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 1, 2014 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born April 19, 1939 in Hardy Co., WV, she was the daughter of the late Lancy William Hammon and Mary Florence (Wilt) Hammon. Mary was a cashier for FoodLion in Mooefield for numerous years. A devoted member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. Having never met a stranger, Mary always had a smile and was fondly crowned as having the best creamed peas at many church dinners. On April 23, 1960 in Cumberland, MD, she married Melvin Sonny Golliday whom survives with their two sons, Gregory & Jennifer Golliday of Standish, ME and Jeffrey Golliday of Louisville, KY, their daughter, Kathy & Derrick Harvey of Old Fields, WV; and their three grandchildren, Oceanna, Taylor and Trey. Mary is also survived by three sisters, Shirley & Willie Baldwin of Kirby, WV, Patsy & Dave Gapen of Charles Town, WV and Betty Hammond of Silver Spring, MD; a brother, James & Edie Hammond of Winchester, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Jay Parkins officiating. Interment will follow at the South Branch Memorial Gardens near Petersburg, WV. The family will receive friends from 5 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
