Marlin Evans

Marlin Evans died unexpectedly on January 13, 2015 in Hot Springs, AR at the age of 72. Marlin was born on December 22, 1942 in Fabius, WV. He graduated from Shepherd University in 1964 with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting. He married Joyce Riggleman, his high school sweetheart, in 1964. That same year Marlin began work for State Farm Insurance Companies and he held many positions within the company during his 40 year tenure. He retired in 2003 as the Mississippi Auto Division Manager. Marlin was a generous and respected individual who loved family and friends. He enjoyed the arts, music, theater and many sports especially golf. He was passionate about encouraging young adults to pursue their goals. He enjoyed following his granddaughters and their friends with their academics and gymnastic activities. He also supported high school sports and continued to follow local students throughout their college careers. He was also a very active and dedicated member of the Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church. Marlin is preceded in death by his parents, Selvin O. & Virginia C. (Wilson) Evans of Moorefield, WV and his brother, Wayne Evans of Old Fields, WV. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Evans; daughter, Brenda and son in law, Alan Richardson of Corinth, TX; granddaughters, Ali and Brianna Richardson; brother, Richard Evans (Donna) of Raleigh, NC; Waynes wife, Ruth Evans of Old Fields, WV; brothers-in-law, Charles R. (Donna) Riggleman and Ralph E. (Ellen) Riggleman of Moorefield, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, Hot Springs Village, AR, with Dr. Walter L. Bubba Smith officiating. A reception will follow as all are welcome to attend and celebrate Marlins life. Memorials in Marlins honor may be made to Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church at 700 Baleric RD, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909 or a charity of your choice.
