Annie Elizabeth Liz (Carter) Hott, 89, of Old Fields, WV passed away Saturday morning, April 11, 2015 in Petersburg, WV. Born July 12, 1925, in Petersburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late John Roy Carter and Janie Nelson Carter. Mrs. Hott was a member of Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, was a member of the West Virginia Retired Teachers Association, and was an active member of Valley View Golf Club. Mrs. Hott was a graduate of Petersburg High School, Potomac State College, and Shepherd University. Known to friends and family alike as Liz, Mrs. Hott taught school for more than 40 years. Literally hundreds of students that attended Peru, Rig, Old Fields, and Moorefield Elementary will remember Mrs. Hott and her defining influence on their early lives and they will be saddened to learn of her passing. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald Warden Hott; a daughter, Susan Newman and husband Russ of Old Fields, WV; two granddaughters, Sue Ellen Gossard of Winchester, VA and Becky Yokum and husband Griff of Upper Tract, WV. Also surviving is a sister, Betty Carter Hott and husband George of Moorefield, WV. Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Parkins officiating. Interment will follow in Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield. Pallbearers will be George C. Hott, Richard Hott, Bill Biller, Dane Biller, Joe Mohr, and Martin Smith. A special honorary pallbearer will be close friend Carlton Saville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 PM Monday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street in Moorefield.
