Leona Katherine Simmons

Leona Katherine Hartman Simmons, age 88 of J. C. Markwood Road, Purgitsville, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, April 10, 2012 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born September 4, 1923 in Mineral Co., WV, she was the daughter of the late Richard Hartman & Mary (Jackson) Hartman Riggleman. She was a devoted member of the Old Fields Baptist Church. Her husband of 63 years, Elmo ?Joby? Simmons preceded her in death in July 2009. Four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. She was the last member of her immediate family. Surviving is a daughter, Nancy Simmons Redinger (husband Donald) of Jefferson Hills, PA; two grandchildren, Annette Crites Martinez of Pittsburg, PA and David ?Duke? Crites of Purgitsville, WV; two great-grandsons, Ryan T. Reed & Nathan Reed; a great-great-grandson, Ryan Reed; special niece, Opal Nutt; special nephew, Lawrence ?Butch? Hartman and numerous ?special? friends. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Dan Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Gardens, Route 55, Moorefield. The family will receive friends from 2 ? 4 & 6 ? 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
