Leeanna Hambleton

Leeanna Mary Hambleton, age 89 of Winchester, VA, passed away Monday afternoon, June 3, 2024, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, VA. Born on September 10, 1934, in Hardy County, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Crites and Eula Grace Eye Crites. Her husband, John Monroe Hambleton preceded her in death in February 2014. Sons, John M. Hambleton, Jr., Steve Hambleton, brother, John and sisters, Eleanor Crites, Wanda Crites, Juanita Baker and Ellen Henry also preceded her in death.

Leeanna filled her days with simple joys, finding solace in baking bread, tending to her garden, canning the bounty of her garden and escaping into the pages of her favorite books. She was a woman whose life was filled with warmth, kindness, and the simple pleasures that brought her joy. Leeanna's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, forever preserving her memory in their thoughts and prayers.

As she is fondly remembered by her loved ones, Leeanna is survived by her son, Doug Hambleton of Winchester, VA; three daughters, Fay Watson of Trussville, AL, Lisa (Doug) Cleveland of Winchester, VA & Kelley (Jim) Bryant of Cross Junction, VA; two brothers, Bruce Crites of Moorefield, WV and Wayne Crites of Petersburg, WV; three sisters, Phyllis Taylor of Purgitsville, WV, Joan Simmons of Petersburg, WV and Margaret Dayton of Mathias, WV; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved daughter in law, Susan Hambleton and great grandson Elijah.

Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, June 7, 2024, in the Crites-Eye Cemetery, Perch Street, Moorefield with Pastor Brad Taylor officiant. Interment will follow.
