Kenny Carr

Kenny Carr, age 89 of Mayberry Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday evening, July 25, 2013 at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, WV. Born December 23, 1923 in Cabins, WV, he was the son of the late Sylvanus Carr & Hilda Catherine (Stover) Carr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian S. (Riggleman) Carr in June 2010. Eight brothers, a sister and a great-granddaughter also preceded him in death. A US Navy veteran of WWII, he served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a life member of the John M. Golliday Post # 64 American Legion, a life member of the Denney-Moyers-Pratt Post #9606 V.F.W. and a member of the Oak Dale Christian Church. Kenny was an outdoorsman whom enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening in the spring and summer as well as reading in his spare time. Surviving are four sons; Galen Carr of Hebron, IN, Dalton Carr of Moorefield, WV, Andy Carr of Huntsville, AL and Mickey Carr of Moorefield, WV; a daughter, Cathy Carr of Winchester, VA; five sisters, Nina C. Weatherholtz, Mildred C. Kessel and Lona Sis Sherman all of Moorefield, WV, Mary C. Thomas of Petersburg, WV and Edna C. Swick of Ft. Ashby, WV; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be conducted 4:00 PM Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastors Chris Carr & Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating. Interment will follow at the Newhouse Cemetery, Rig Road, Moorefield, WV. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of services at 4:00 PM.
