Johnnie David Hefner, age 83 of Railroad Street, Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday evening, March 28, 2014 at the Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, WV. He was born August 10, 1930 in Hardy Co., WV, a son of the late William Gordon Hefner and Hattie Mae (Crites) Hefner. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, was a member of the Denny-Moyers-Pratt, Post #9606 V.F.W. and a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren. A brother, Gordon Hefner and sisters, Anna Hefner Raines and Shirley Hefner preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Esther Jean (Pratt) Hefner; a daughter, Nancy Hefner Evans of Moorefield, WV; two brothers, Raymond C. Hefner (wife Geneva) and Tommie L. Hefner of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Mary Alice Shobe (husband Landon) of Moorefield, WV; grandchildren, Kim, Jodi, Rachael & Jenny; great-grandchildren, Haley, Jacob, Luke, Macie, Malachi, Sicily, Myles & Marlee; a sister-in-law, Barbara Hefner of Moorefield, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the US Army. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until time of services at 7:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date in Olivet Cemetery.
