John Daniel Kelley, Sr.

John Daniel “Boot” Kelley, Sr., age 53 of Hagerstown, MD passed away Wednesday morning, June 16,2021 at his sister’s residence in Moorefield, WV. Born on March 8, 1968 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late James Clifton Kelley and Mary Gertrude James Kelley. Brothers, Hyman, Charles and William “Bear” also preceded him in death.

John started almost every day with good mornings on Facebook while enjoying a cup of coffee usually from his sister’s front porch, which he so fondly enjoyed. He embraced the family dogs, all of them, loved to play cornhole, enjoyed the family cookouts and had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. Without a doubt, John loved life.

Surviving is a son, John D. Kelley, Jr. of Catonsville, MD; three sisters, Mary G. Dayhoff of Moorefield, WV, Rose Shifflett of Hagerstown, MD and Libby Grimm of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life Cookout will be held at his sister Rose’s home at a later date.
