John David Branson, age 77 of S. Elm Street, Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday morning, May 23, 2014 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born March 19, 1937 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late John Adam Branson and Regina Mae (Baldwin) Branson. He was a US Army veteran of the 101st Airborne Division and was a member of the John M. Golliday, Post #64 American Legion. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg; two brothers and eight sisters. If John was not feeling bad, you would find him watching his many grandchildren playing sports, rooting from the sidelines as only a grandfather could. The remainder of his time was spent perfecting his carpentry skills fulfilling the requests that Freda made for her craft hobby, that he found time to enjoy as well. Surviving is his crafty wife, Freda M. (Lofton) Branson; a son, John D. Branson, II (wife Wendy) of Moorefield, WV; two daughters, Wendy Adkins (husband Chuck) of Moorefield, WV and Gina Livengood (husband John) of Moorefield, WV; two sisters, Irene Smith and Lila Stafford of Akron, OH; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his favorite cat Sadie. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
