Jimmy Dayton Champ, age 73 of Church Road, Old Fields, WV, passed away Saturday morning, December 5, 2020 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on March 3, 1947, at home in Medley, WV, he was a son of the late Quinten Arthur Champ and Bessie Florence Layton Champ. A son, Christopher Stanley Champ and a brother Gary also preceded him in death.
Jim loved to hunt, enjoyed playing cards and bowling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and his love for his family and friends.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Sharon Elizabeth See Champ; a daughter, Brandi (Jonathan) Gunter of Midlothian, VA; a son, J.D. (Mary) Champ of Inwood, WV; five grandchildren that he cherished and was proud of, Owen, Sawyer, Avett, Kajsa and Quinlynn; five brothers, Charles (Dottie) Champ, Sr. of Purgitsville, WV, Roger (Shelia) Champ of Moorefield, WV, Carl (Nancy) Champ of Purgitsville, WV, John Champ of Purgitsville, WV and Andrew Champ of Purgitsville, WV; a sister, Judy (Roger) Pratt of Moorefield, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Olivet Cemetery with Pastor Jim Yao officiant. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, and for the love and respect for Jim, wearing of masks and social distancing will be required at the graveside service at all times.
