Jean Katheryn Vandiver Bishoff, age 94 formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away Saturday morning, July 7, 2018 at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg, WV, after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born on November 18, 1923 in Burlington, WV a daughter of the late Rosalie Carol (Homan) Vandiver and Edward Goheen Vandiver. She is also preceded in death by her former husband, C. Berdell Bishoff, a son, Douglas D. Bishoff and a sister Charlotte Churaman. Jean graduated from Keyser High School as the class Valedictorian, graduated with a B.A. degree in Home Economics from Berea College in Kentucky and taught school in Hancock, MD and Moorefield High School. She later was a florist and oil painter for Bishoffs Florist and Photography Center in Moorefield, was the Supervisor of Community Action and later retired in 1988 from the WVDHHR as an Administrative Assistant and Supervisor of Adult Services. Her love of art, auctions, playing card games and church activities kept her active throughout her retirement years. She was an adult Sunday School teacher and a member of the Ladies Circle at Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church; and also, a member of AAUW, CEOS (formerly Handi Homemakers Club) and Bridge Club. She is survived by a daughter, Lucinda Cindy Bishoff Allen and husband Jim of Baker, WV; four grandchildren, D. Nicolas Bishoff and wife Jennifer of Moorefield, WV, Jason D. Allen of Charles Town, WV, Bethany Allen Perez and husband Juan of Winchester, VA and Jamie C. Allen of Inwood, WV and three great-grandchildren, Seth Bishoff, Skye Allen and Sydney Allen. She is also survived by a brother, William Vandiver of Wilmington, DE along with several nieces, nephews and many special caregivers. Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, Moorefield, WV with Pastors Rick Bergdoll and Jeff Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. All are invited to a lunch afterwards at the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
