James "Jim" Alvin Morton, Jr.

James “Jim” Alvin Morton, Jr., age 58 of Tom Cox Road, Petersburg, WV, passed away Thursday morning, February 23, 2023, at his residence with his family at his side. Born on June 10, 1964, in Keyser, WV, he was a son of James Alvin Morton, Sr. & Betty Jean Armentrout Morton of Keyser, WV. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy Irene Armentrout, Charles Leroy Armentrout, William Morton and Pearl Christina Morton. Jim was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion Post #78, a member of the Rig Assembly of God Church and the NRA.

Jim loved the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed just sitting along the river, enjoying the company of family and friends, the one thing he loved the most.

Surviving is his loving wife of 23 years, Patricia “Patty” Mae Lofton Morton; a son, Matthew Funk (Kaelyn Taylor) of Petersburg, WV; four daughters, Charlene Doman (Garrett Sites) of Moorefield, WV, Jessica Hinzman (“Tick”) of Petersburg, WV, Jamie Martin of Petersburg, WV and Kristy Swick (Michael) of Maysville, WV; a brother, Chuck Morton (Kelli) of Westernport, MD; two sisters, Brenda Lee and Lori Burns (Blake) both of Keyser, WV and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the Rig Assembly of God Church with Pastor Brad Taylor officiant. Interment will follow Military Graveside Rites accorded by the U.S. Army and the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard in the Thorne Family Cemetery, Dorcas, WV. The family will receive friends form 5 – 7 PM Monday, February 27th at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, Moorefield.
