Jackson Shobe

Jackson Richard Shobe, age 89 of Purgitsville, WV, passed away Monday morning, July 8, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born on February 9, 1935 in Purgitsville, WV, he was the son of the late John Howard Shobe and Maxine Dare Leatherman Shobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny C. Shobe and a step-great-grandson Britton Lyle Cunningham.

 Throughout his life, Jackson held various jobs, finding fulfillment in his work at Chert Mountain Orchard, Mt. Top Truck Stop, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Armstrong Paving Trucking, and concluding his career at Hampshire County Schools as a beloved bus driver. An enthusiast of the outdoors, he derived joy from hunting, fishing, and horseback riding.

 Surviving is his loving wife of 67 years, Nellie Louise Hines Shobe; his children, Carolyn J. Weese of Purgitsville, WV and Glen R. Shobe (wife Teresa A. Mauzy) of Purgitsville, WV. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jackie L. (Weese) Eye (husband Joshua P. Eye) of Old Fields, WV and Ambria (Shobe) Hotchkiss of Burlington, WV; a step-grandson, Christopher Cunningham (wife Loren) of Moorefield, WV; step-great-grandsons, Lincoln & Maverick Cunningham and three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Ethan & Eli Eye.

 The family is honoring his wish to be cremated with no public services.
