Ivan Marsh Cowger, age 82 of Moorefield, WV, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Ormond Beach, FL. Born August 5, 1926 in Bass, WV, he was the son of the late Marvin Staton Cowger and the late Dora Weese Cowger. A lifelong resident of Hardy County, Mr. Cowger had spent the winters in Florida for the past 11 years. Surviving is his wife of sixty-one years, Elouise Wolfe Cowger; a son, Ivan M. Cowger, Jr. and his wife Janie of Ormond Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Ivan M. Cowger, III and his wife Wendy of Fredericksburg, VA and Angela Cowger Boynton and her husband Justin of Bowling Green, VA; four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Catie & Ivan Cowger, IV and Gwyneth Boynton; three sisters, Esther Mitchell of Winchester, VA, Mary Robertson of Frederick, MD and Violet Kemp of Rockville, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cowger served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Pudget Sound in the Pacific Theater. He was a retired truck driver and heavy equipment operator. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
