Isaac Newton ?Bud? VanMeter, age 88 of Old Fields, WV, passed away Monday afternoon, January 9, 2012 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born January 20, 1923 in Old Fields, WV he was the son of the late James Edward VanMeter & Hilda Hanna (Huffman) VanMeter. His wife, Mamie McNeill (Williams) VanMeter preceded him in death in February 1975. A son, ?Ike? VanMeter, and two sisters, Tabitha Partlow & Martha Allenbaugh, also preceded him in death. ?Bud? had a lifelong passion for farming in Old Fields. He loved his children and his grandchildren as well as hunting and horses. His love of horses extended for many decades as he was honored in 2005 by the Tri County Fair for his 70 years of participation and support of the fair and its horse show. Surviving is a son, Thomas S. (Pansy) VanMeter of Old Fields, WV; a daughter, Martha ?Marti? VanMeter (Bill) Reel of Harrisonburg, VA; three grandchildren, Sarah (Jimmy) Jacquez, Jake (Andrea) VanMeter and T.J. (Sheena) VanMeter and five great-grandchildren, Grayson, Jack, Isaac, Paige & Garrett. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2011 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Otis ?Buzz? Weatherholt officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 ? 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
