Gordon Baker Hefner, age 81 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday afternoon, March 12, 2010 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born October 17, 1928 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late William Gordon & Hattie Mae (Crites) Hefner. He was a US Army veteran; a life member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion; was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren and was a member of the Moorefield Lodge # 29 A.F. & A.M as a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a previous Co-owner of Bar-Lo Ford & Wrecker service and had retired from Pilgrims Pride Feed Mill Division. Two sisters preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Barbara J. (Russell) Hefner; a son, Gordon Russell Hefner of Fairfax, VA; three brothers, Johnnie D. Hefner, Raymond C. Hefner & Tommie L. Hefner all of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Mary Alice Shobe of Moorefield, WV; a nice whom he thought of as a daughter, Elizabeth Shobe; and numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites Accorded by the US Army & the Moorefield Veteran?s Honor Guard at Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 ? 8 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.
