Geneva Louella Funk Fitzwater, age 90 of Fort Run Road Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday evening, October 7, 2015. Born on March 22, 1925 in Fabius, WV, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Nathan Funk and Lillie Agnes (Sine) Funk. She retired from Rockingham Poultry (now Pilgrims Pride) after working there for 27 years. She was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren and of the Old Fields CEOs. Her husband of 57 years, Russell William Fitzwater, preceded her in death in December 2004. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Gail Fitzwater Simmons; two grandsons, Jay Michael Simmons and Darrell William Fitzwater, Jr.; six brothers and a sister. She is survived by two sons, Larry Alan Fitzwater and wife Judith of Perrysburg, OH and Darrell William Fitzwater and wife Bonnie of Edgewater, FL; a daughter, Paula Jeanne Treidel and husband Roger, Palm Coast, FL; a sister, Armetha Tenney of Chatsworth, GA; a grandson, Stephen A. Fitzwater; three granddaughters, Miellyn Barrows, Anastasia Brown and Alison Flores; a step-grandson, Gary W. Treidel; eight great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson and a great-great-granddaughter. Geneva grew up with her siblings in a close-knit family known for their laughter and love of fun. She treasured her family and was known by her many nieces and nephews as Mommy John and by her great grandchildren as Pink Grandma. She had many long-time close friends whom she loved to visit. She instilled her deep appreciation for education in her children and was very proud to earn her GED and graduate with her daughter, Barbara. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Matt Lyon officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. On Saturday, the family will receive friends from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
