Gary Lee Butts, age 65 of Moorefield, WV passed away Friday morning, April 1, 2005 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born February 14, 1940 in Cherry Run, WV, he was the son of the late Marven L. & Ruth (Post) Butts. Surviving is his wife, the former Janet Jackson of Lonaconing, MD; two daughters, Jennifer J. Butts of Purgitsville, WV and Melissa Butts of Inwood, WV; a brother, Jack L. Butts of Berkeley Springs, WV; a sister, Janet Butts Sisler of Moorefield, WV and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, April 4, 2005 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with Pastor Harold Garber officiating. After services Mr. Butts will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 2 ? 4 & 6 ? 8 PM Sunday and from 12 PM until time of services on Monday at the Fraley Funeral Home. Gary was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Hardy County Family Issues Task Force, a member of the Community Action Board of Directors, Past President and board member of the Mountaineer Food Bank, a MHS teacher where he coached wrestling and football. Gary also was a member of the Second Responders for the county CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). He was an Officer and member of the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association, a Charter member of the WV Muzzleloading Rifle Association, a Range officer for Heritage Weekend?s Muzzleloader Shoot for over 25 years, a Charter member and a Board member of the Cross Knob Sportsman?s Club and Little Mountain Hunting Club. He was an avid outdoorsman with a special interest in birding. He retired after 35 years service with the WV Department of Health and Human Resources, as a Child Protective Services worker, the County Director of Hardy County and was area Administrator for Hardy, Grant & Pendleton Counties.
