Frankie Overland Helmick, age 88 of Purgitsville, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, May 12, 2009 at his residence. Born February 26, 1921 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin& Margaret Alice Louise (Kuykendall) Helmick. He was a member of the Harpers Chapel Church of the Brethren and a member of the National Rifle Association. A son, Robert ?Bob? Helmick, an infant daughter, a grandson, four brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Surviving is his loving wife of 66 years, Nancy Bell (Hartman) Helmick; two sons, Kenneth E. (Mary Sue) Helmick of Sterling, VA and Carl R. Helmick of Petersburg, WV; four daughters, Judith A. Bennett of Petersburg, WV, Jane (Bill) Wellons of Purgitsville, WV, Wilma L. (Eddie) Sherman of Moorefield, WV and Deborah J. (Homer) Davis of Burlington, WV; a sister, Minnie Jenkins of Moorefield, WV; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. At his request Frankie has been cremated and his cremains will be interred at a later date at the South Branch Memorial Gardens.
