Ferguson Granvil Halterman,

Ferguson Granvil Halterman, Sr. age 97 of Caledonia Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, September 1, 2009 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born March 15, 1912 in Rig, WV, he was the son of the late Jonathan Jehu & Ursula (Simmons) Halterman. His wife, Madeline (Iman) Halterman preceded him in death in May 2002. A son, Ferguson G. Halterman, Jr., eight sisters and seven brothers also preceded him in death. He began his career in clothing as a former employee of the Coffman-Fisher store in Moorefield and later moving to Crisfield, MD where he established Haltermans, Inc. While in Crisfield he became a member of the Rotary and Elks Lodge. In 1988 he returned to Moorefield for his retirement. He was a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving is a son, Dennis Halterman of Moorefield, WV; two granddaughters, Carla Karvounis & Andrea Perry of Baltimore, MD; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Wade Bean of Moorefield, WV & Josephine Bensenhaver of Rig, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Judy Vetter officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
