Felix Gochenour Poling, age 94 of Raines St., Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 2, 2013, at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born September 14, 1918 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late Mitchell Felix Poling & Mary Etta (Simmons) Poling. His daughter, Debby Guessford preceded him in death in April 2007. He was also preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII having served most of his enlistment in Alaska. He was a member of the Denney-Moyers-Pratt Post #9606 V.F.W., a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion, and a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church. Described as an outdoorsman, he was a hunter, a fisherman, an avid gardener who benefitted the neighborhood with his vegetables and a man who never shied away from hard work. He retired from Southern States in 1983 after 39 years. Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years, Wandalee (Calhoun) Poling; and numerous nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Jay Parkins officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites Accorded by the US Army at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
