Eva Janet Wolfe, age 87 of Moorefield, WV, passed away at the Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg on Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2024.
She was born at Bass, WV on September 2, 1936, in a large log house that has since been relocated to the coast of Oregon. She was the daughter of the late Ira Roosevelt Wolfe and Lillian Virginia Thomas Wolfe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Blaine Heavner, five brothers (Norman, Forrest, Wendell, Orville and Doug) and two sisters (Wilma and Marion). She was the last surviving member of the immediate family.
She attended Bass School, Parrin School, Moorefield Elementary and High School. She dropped out of high school to help care for her sick mother, but later earned her GED. Eva worked at local restaurants in her teen years. In early adulthood she worked at Huck and Jan’s and Halterman Dry Cleaners. In 2000, she retired from Hester Industries after 30 years at that time as a Quality Control Supervisor. In addition, she was instrumental in several Wolfe family business. She was a devoted mother and cherished her sons and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons Greg Vance and Jeff (Matty) Vance; four grandchildren, Justin Vance, Cara Vassil, Ben Vance and Jackson Vance; four great-grandchildren, Caden Kimble, Jocelyn Wagner, Cole Myers and Ira Vance; and numerous nephews and nieces whom she held dear.
Funeral services for Eva will be held at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Pastor Rick Bergdoll will officiate the ceremony, followed by interment at the Ira Wolfe Cemetery, Wolfe Mountain, Bass, WV. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 10:00 AM.
The family kindly requests donations to be made in Eva's honor to the charity of the donor's choice. Eva's legacy of love, dedication, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
